


Diogo Jota a forward for Liverpool died in a car crash in Spain with his brother Andre Silva.
The accident happened around 00:30 in the city of Zamora. Their car had a flat tire while passing another car. It went off the road and caught fire.
Jota was 28 years old. He got married on June 22.
The Portuguese footballer played for Liverpool in the English Premier League since 2020.
After the sad news Portuguese football was in shock.
Proenca said they asked UEFA for a one –minute silence before the Portugal vs Spain Women’s Euro match tonight at 22:00. Later UEFA accepted this request.
Portuguese Prime Minister Luis Montenegro said Jota was a player who made the country proud. He shared his condolences with Jota’s family.
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer also said they were very sad about Jota’s death and sent condolences to his family and friends.
