Taner Özgür, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vizyon Media Group, had a pleasant conversation with Mustafa Özyürek, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Maypark Hotel, a rising star in the hotel industry.
Taner Özgür: Mr. Mustafa, let’s get to know you a little better. Could you tell us about yourself?
Mustafa Özyürek: I was born in Yozgat in 1969. I have been working in the textile industry since 1990. I have been residing in Izmir for the past three years. I have been active in the construction and textile industries for many years.
I speak five foreign languages: Russian, Polish, Serbian, Romanian, and Bulgarian.
Currently, we continue our presence in the hospitality industry.
Taner Özgür: How many years have you been in the hotel industry?
Mustafa Özyürek: I have been working in the hotel industry since I came to Izmir. We have started our investments in the tourism sector by purchasing the Maypark Hotel. I decided to enter the hotel industry while I was previously engaged in luggage trade.
Taner Özgür: How do you assess the tourism sector this year?
Mustafa Özyürek: Compared to previous years, we are facing a rather lackluster season this year. As people’s purchasing power declines, one of the things they cut back on is vacations, which greatly affects us hoteliers. We are hoping for some movement, and we are hoping to catch our breath a bit with the İzmir Fair. Half of the taxes go to the state, and as everyone can see from afar, we cannot do big things.
Taner Özgür: Will you be making any new ventures in Izmir? What are your goals for the future?
Mustafa Özyürek: If economic conditions are favorable, we are considering increasing our investments. We are planning to acquire a second hotel. We are also considering continuing in the construction sector, but we want to make a decision based on a clear view of the future.
In the future, I want to hand over my business to my children and enjoy my retirement in a resort town.
Maypark hotel owner Mustafa Özyürek spoke to our newspaper about his goals and future plans, and we at Vizyon Media wish him every success.
