Izmir is on the verge of a new era in international health tourism. The delegation, led by the United Nations, will arrive in the city on Sunday, February 22, 2026, to share with the public the grant-supported projects to be carried out with Turkey. Following diplomatic contacts stretching from Geneva to Ankara, the delegation’s program in Izmir includes concrete investment steps in the field of health tourism.

During the visit, the delegation will evaluate projects planned with Turkey at the headquarters of SANKON (Confederation of Industry and Trade) and SATKON (International Health Tourism Confederation). It is expected that UN-approved and grant-supported agreements will be signed in various areas, primarily nursing homes, including those in Izmir.

SATKON High Advisory Board Chairman Prof. Dr. HAŞMET MESUT ÖZSOY and his delegation will be present at the welcoming program. SATKON İzmir Provincial President ELİF CANBAY and her management will also be present at the event. From the media world, TANER ÖZGÜR, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vizyon Media Group, and UMUT UÇAR, Publishing Group President, along with numerous journalists, will attend the ceremony.

During the delegation’s stay in Izmir, a protocol signing ceremony for projects that have received grant support and a widely attended press conference will be held. This step is considered a strategic development that will enable Izmir to integrate directly into international investment networks in health tourism.

Investments in elderly care services and health tourism hold significant potential in terms of both employment and the city’s economic development. This first wave of investments, supported by the United Nations, is seen as a strong start towards establishing Izmir as a regional health hub.
