A horrific murder of a woman took place in the Menderes district of Izmir. Serpil Güral (45), a mother of two, was stabbed to death by her husband A.G. (48), who had a restraining order against him.
It was learned that the murder took place in Güral’s own home.
The argument ended in bloodshed
The incident took place at around 1:30 p.m. in an apartment on İbn-i Sina Street in the Görece neighborhood. Allegedly, an argument broke out between Serpil Güral and her husband A.G., who was in the process of divorcing her, for reasons that are still unknown. The argument quickly escalated into a fight, and A.G. attacked his wife with a knife he had grabbed. Neighbors reportedly heard screams and alerted the police and emergency medical services.
It was too late when the medical team arrived at the house.
The medical team that arrived at the scene determined that Serpil Güral had been stabbed in various parts of her body. Upon examination, it was determined that the mother of two children had lost her life. Following the investigation of the scene, Güral’s body was taken to the Izmir Forensic Medicine Institute Morgue. The killer husband was taken into custody.
A.G., who tried to flee after the incident, was caught shortly thereafter by Menderes District Police Department teams and taken into custody. It was learned that the suspect’s police procedures were ongoing. Police teams conducted a detailed evidence search in the apartment where the murder took place.
Restraining order revealed
Investigations revealed that Serpil Güral had obtained a one-month restraining order against her husband, effective September 22. However, despite this protective order, it was determined that the attacker came to the house and committed the murder.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing
A.G.’s statement will be taken as part of the investigation launched by the prosecutor’s office. While a detailed investigation into the cause of the incident continues, security cameras in the vicinity have also been examined.
