On the evening of July 8, the Ministry of Interior said that Mayor Niyazi Nefi Kara was removed from his job. The reason was an investigation about taking bribes, using his position for personal gain, and embezzlement.



As part of the investigation, 35 people were taken into custody on July 4. The number of people in custody may increase after more statements.



Manavgat Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office started an investigation about Manavgat Municipality after claims of bribery related to hotel renovations, construction permits, and housing applications.



A video was shared that is said to show Deputy Mayor Tüter taking a bribe from a person named C.C.



CHP leader Özgür Özel said that his party has started an investigation about the video.
